A Message for Norma

Everyone knows that Norma is the national spokeswoman for the Red Scarf Project.

It's time to gear up for the 2008 action! You can get the details by going to Norma's Red Scarf Project 07 site. If this doesn't make you a little teary then baby, you's cold! There's more info on Red Scarf at the Orphan Foundation of America's site also. Even if you can't participate, please give it a shout out, maybe a few of your readers will!

I promised I'd try to somehow translate Gwen's Red Scarf Pattern in crochet, believe or not, not everyone knits. Yeah I know...So not as easy as it looks, but I did come up with a tunisian/afghan stitched pattern that's a tad close. If any one is interested, I am writing the stitch patterns up. Norma, anyone still asking about crochet? Or are they finding their patterns?

I figure if Norma can devote endless hours to this project, the least I could do was devote a post to it. More to come...

Ohhh, Carol, I love it! Well done. Yes, indeed, they do still need links to great crochet patterns. The other folks gave me "links to long lists" kind of thing, but I don't have time to search through all those links to find good patterns to send them at the OFA. You are helping me out, girlfriend! Thank you!

It there was a Wiki entry for "good egg" your picture would be there Carol!!

I'm not real big on crochet but I might just use this pretty pattern for my Red Scarf this year :)

Here's my only issue with the RSP:

EVERYONE I see with a red scarf, I now assume is an orphan!!! I know it's not true, but it's kind of sad how my brain has started to create this bias!!

Your Tunisian is cool. View 1 and 2 are amazing!

Love the Tunisian/afghan crochet! I should go check out the videos at nexstitch.com for that as I know there are some good ones there.

Carol, I think we should make a Betties Red Scarf 08 blog button and try to make as many as possible!

How cool! I'll be joining up with Red Scarf again this year, too. Maybe I'll make another button!

So, yeah, I immediately went to Knit Picks and ordered yarn for five scarves.

I'm compulsive AND obsessive, but at least you give me a good direction to channel that.

XOXO
