I had to stand while winding the skeins, but it worked. Take your unused Lazy Susan, turn a bar stool upside down on it and viola! Yarn Swift. I got quite the looks from my family today. Always keep them guessing within an inch of your sanity I always say. Here's the yarn all skeined and ready to knit.
I dyed this myself by the way. Got the idea over at Crankygrrrrrl's.
I used Knit Pick's Bare 75/25 Superwash wool/nylon and Wilton's food dye in royal blue. Didn't do anything fancy, just wanted to get a feel for doing this. I have a feeling I'm going to need a bigger house with an extra kitchen. It was fun and I'm happy with the results. The proof I guess, will be in the knitting. I did take photos as I progressed, I also took pics of the Saturday sky and some projects, but discovered the memeory stick was removed from my camera that I had to search for for almost an hour because
Since taking these, I have blocked and seamed the shoulders & will seam the sleeves on tonight. I hope. Things change fast around here.

Time to start getting ready for Thanksgiving! We always have the family for the holiday and this year, I was able to join something near and dear to my heart. SPOT
I'm a traditionalist at heart. We're not that big on Halloween, but it represents to me a beginning of Autumn and the holidays, my favorite times of the year. And Halloween can be such a pain, you know chasin those bats all night gets really tiring, but then, I'm not too swift.

I just finished winding up a lot of yarn, so I appreciate the pic of your swift. And the dye job looks great! I haven't progressed beyond kool aid, even though I have a natural dye kit in my garage!
You may not be too swift, but you're top of the apple heap in my books! BTW... nice work on the dye job!

That is a terrific idea!! I'll have to remember that if I ever get to knitting. So far, I only know the basics of crochete (sp?) and have done a couple of cross-stitch projects....a LONG time ago!! :-)

how cool is that? a yarn swift and newly dyed yarn!! bummer about the media card. i've brought my camera twice to my sock club group and both times i forgot the card. grrrrr. can't wait to see how your experiment knits up...
That's a very creative way of winding yarn - I use child labor - my 2 girls whenever I need my yarn wound into balls. Love the blue of your newly dyed yarn. By the way, I am not the Ann that asked about decoupage.
I'm making a baby bolero, too! Yours is very nice with the lacy center. Have you ever tried using a lampshade as a swift? You just loosen the top and it turns as you wind.

That lazy susan swift is genius! Absolutely brilliant. I can't wait to try it out.
Sweet, I love that yarn! It's such a dreamy blue. I get very excited about dyeing, but I can rarely stop knitting long enough to do it! Really nice idea on the swift, too. Much swifter than any of the make-shift swifts I've tried!
